Pilli Luck is a playful little ottoman in the shape of an ecstasy pill. By removing the pill from its original context of illegality, risk, and taboo, and transforming it into an ottoman, its meaning shifts. The pilll is transformed into a soft, inviting, and functional object that appears cute and harmless.
This transformation creates a tension between comfort and confrontation. Its playful form invites people to sit down while simultaneously confronting them with the taboo surrounding ecstasy use and its presence in society. Pilli Luck explores how design can reshape perception, questioning the meanings and associations we attach to everyday objects.
